![]() The Lakers also performed well offensively, shooting 53.8% from the field (49 for 91) and 51.7% (15 for 29) from 3-point range, but didn’t overcome their early foul troubles or turnovers. Seth Curry was ruled out at halftime with an ankle injury. (quadriceps) and rotation players Josh Green (elbow) and Maxi Kleber (toe). Grant Williams added 19 points (5 for 7 from deep) for Dallas, which was also without starter Derrick Jones Jr. With All-Star guard Kyrie Irving sidelined for a second consecutive game with a bruised right foot, Hardaway shot 10 for 21 from the field (5 for 10 from behind the arc), and 7 for 8 on free throws. It’s a make-or-miss league, and he happened to make them.” “You go by the numbers and trends, what’s been happening up to this point in the season, and those numbers told us that Dante could be a heavy shift guy. And in an attempt to put extra bodies in front of Luka, you just decide who you’re going to play a little bit heavier off of. What also goes hand in hand with that is what you’re willing to live with. “Defense at this level and this league, it’s more than trying to take things away from people. Just like the Lakers’ stars showed up, so did the Mavericks’ available superstar in Luka Dončić (33 points, 17 assists, six rebounds), who created a significant portion of those 3-point opportunities for Dallas because of the attention he drew from L.A.’s defense and the advantages he created.Įxum, who entered Tuesday shooting 28.6% from behind the arc this season (8 for 26), scored a season-high 26 points with a career-best seven 3-pointers on nine attempts, going 5 for 7 in the fourth quarter to help the Mavs stay in front. ![]() ![]() “We took care of business there and we came in here and that first quarter wasn’t to our liking but we still made a game of it and gave ourselves a chance to win.” “The In-Season Tournament was what it was in Vegas,” James said. It's actually mind boggling that people seem to think having an injured dominant hand with a brace on it didnt affect a basketball players performance. I'd bet my house that if our PGs went down now it'd look a hell of alot better than it did then. I'm not saying he's ready to run a heliocentric offense yet, but the stretch of bad play happened to coincide with having an injured/braced dominant hand as much as missing PGs, and it continued for a bit when Brogdon came back til the brace was off. There's a reason his handle looked shaky and he'd lose the ball on wide open fastbreaks for no reason, his jumper and passes were way off, and now suddenly he's crossing guys into the Shadow Realm, automatic from mid, and his 3s are on point and this stretch took all of 1 game after the brace came off to begin. Now imagine having to play professional basketball at the highest level, having to shoot with it when the ball sits in your hand different, your hand flexes different cuz of the brace, and your dominant hand is injured to boot. Like imagine having to do your job with a brace on your dominant hand, and how it would change. It's clear his handle, passing, and obviously shooting has gotten way better since it came off. I don't think people realize how much that hand brace was affecting his game.
